DIRECTOR OF PMO - PMO MANAGER:  The Director, Project Management Office will work under the VP of Strategy, PMO, and Business Analytics who works with sales, operations, product, and human resources teams in support of our client' s 3-year Strategic Plan to grow revenue and operating profit.  This role will be responsible for helping to shape, plan, and orchestrate the implementation of a Project Management Office (PMO) structure for the enterprise to ensure that projects are properly identified, vetted, approved, resourced, and completed in a timely manner. The ideal individual in this role thrives on making an impact in a transformational environment and is comfortable working at a fast-energetic pace. He or she should be adept at managing and coordinating a portfolio of initiatives that may often intersect with one another and helping to streamline the approach to project management.

Day to day responsibilities will include reviewing business results and market factors to determine how to best support business unit strategic goals, forming project plans and teams to help bring forth the goals of the individual projects that will result in revenue and operating margin growth. This individual will oversee the execution of projects, facilitate change management efforts when launching new capabilities to our business divisions and customers, and functions as the lead in providing executive updates and communications with the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management Team Leadership
  • Establish the PMO organization structure, hiring and managing staffing requirements that will be defined
  • Manage interdependencies and coordination across projects to ensure information relating to project deliverables, risks, and issues are communicated between stakeholders and that KPIs are monitored and evaluated
  • Foster collaborative and mutually supportive relationships with project leaders and senior stakeholders, assess cross-functional project team capability, provide coaching, training and support to enhance project/program management capability, and improve collaborative development and project results
  • Identify and define the major strategic issues for the organization and integrate stakeholder interests with the Strategic Roadmap to inform the prioritization of project initiatives and proactively understand and mitigate risks
  • Oversee the delegation and coordination of work with Project Managers, Program Managers on an as needed basis
  • Works with the PM on a particular project to understand the project milestones; risk areas and budget
  • Works with team as needed for projects that interface with this team
  • Supporting executive updates and communications with the leadership team and operating group

Project Management Governance
  • Establish the PMO role and operating model (e.G. Centralized or decentralized, areas of focus)
  • Define the PMO strategy and lead the design and implementation of a common project management methodology, standards and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of projects
  • Set standards for project management capabilities, including certifications and qualifications for Project Managers, success measurement criteria, methodologies, tools to be used, etc.
  • Create a ' Centre of Excellence' to nurture project management practitioners and share industry best practices
  • Lead the execution of a PMO governance, reporting and review framework to provide a holistic view of all organizational project activity
  • Develop, implement, and maintain PMO processes, tools, metrics, and policies that support productivity, quality and process improvement
